A Record Turnout for Breakfast with Santa

Our Breakfast with Santa was a huge success.   Thanks to our pastor, Fr. Thomas Arackal for encouraging the parishioners from the 9:00 a.m. mass.  It was record turn out as many came to have picture taking with Santa and partake of our pancake breakfast. (See pictures and more to follow.)

Thanks to our ever faithful and dedicated knights who came to cook, serve, and entertain the guests.  Special thanks of course go to Bro Terry O’Neill, who reprised his annual role as Santa Claus and Bro Eleazar Sager and his daughter for their professional photo shoot and booth. Thanks too to our team of chefs Bro Edmund Toi (who also organized the event),  Bro Rommel Nocos and Bro Guillermo Prieto and our purchasers, Bro John Rochard and Bro Joe Johnston.  Thanks to all!  Teamwork at its best!

All Set for Tomorrow’s St. Joseph’s Knights’ Breakfast with Santa and Parish Christmas Concert!

It was a busy day for our St. Joseph’s Knights.  Thanks to our ever faithful and dedicated Knights who came to help and/or practice.  Special thanks to the Knights of St. Agnes Kim who came to assist in the setup of giant 20-footer trees and lights at the altar and the Christmas trees and lights in front of the church.   Not many pictures were taken during the day, but many hands certainly have made a lot of difference.

The day started with the setting up of the Portable for Breakfast with Santa tomorrow after 9:00 a.m. Sunday mass.  We have a new photo set for taking pictures with Santa, courtesy of our official photographer Bro Knight Eleazar Sager.  Instant and electronic pictures will be available.  Make sure to bring your kids and grandkids to meet our Santa Claus, Bro Knight Terry O’Neill.

At ~9:45 a.m. today, the Singing Knights gathered to practice for tomorrow’s concert and we did well  in our harmony this time.  Good luck for tomorrow.  All knights who can sing are still invited to join.  Just wear your best coat or jacket and knight’s badge plus red necktie, if possible  We are joining St. Joseph’s Choirs, the Holy Cross Junior and Senior Choirs, and the Korean Choirs.  Make sure to bring your families (kids and grandkids) to watch over 100 concert participants singing Christmas carols.  This may be St. Joseph’s biggest concert ever!  Don’t miss it!

Christmas Trees Are Ready for Church Decoration!

Special thanks to Bro Mark Pan, Bro Dennis Kwan, Bro John Kai and Bro Rome Saratan for their hard work to get our Christmas Trees for St Joseph Church Decoration.

St Joseph 9846 Knights Christmas Dinner 2017

St Joseph Singing Knights of Council 9846 Caroling at the Port Moody Friendship Society and Dufferin Care Center

The St Joseph Singing Knights of Council 9846 sang on their second caroling engagements on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the (i) Port Moody Seniors Friendship Society at 101 Noons Creek Dr., Port Moody, B.C. and (ii) Dufferin Care Center, 1131 Dufferin St, Coquitlam, BC.  The Knights serenaded the senior residents and/or patrons with Christmas carols and bible verses that depict the real meaning of Christmas and that is the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Everyone in the audience was encouraged to join in the singing and many gladly participated in the singing.

Congratulations and Welcome New Brother Knight Bro Jim O’Friel!

We welcome our new brother knight Bro Jim O’Friel who personally expressed his interest to become a knight.  The ceremony was officiated by Worthy Deputy Grand Knight Bro Joseph Johnston and Worthy Financial Secretary Bro Patrick Grant on Thursday, December 7, 2017.

St Joseph Singing Knights Caroling at Lakeshore and Madison Care Centers

Our St Joseph Singing Knights of Council 9846 made our first two caroling engagements on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Lakeshore Care Center and The Madison Care Center, both seniors’ homes in Coquitlam.  We sang songs in our unique all male voices and recited Holy Bible verses to spread our message of Keep Christ in Christmas.   This was a very memorable and fulfilling experience for all of us participating knights as we spread the spirit of Christmas especially to our lonely seniors right at the onset of this year’s Advent season.

Our repertoire included God rest ye Merry Gentlemen, Do you hear what I hear?, Joy to the World, O Little of Bethlehem, Mary’s Boy Child / Oh My Lord (Medley), The First Noel, O Come all ye Faithful and Feliz Navidad.  Brother Knight Clem DeGobbi recited the bible verses while WPGK Bro Brian Derrick led as conductor.  GK Bro Ernie Alcala and guest instrumentalist Luke Picard provided guitar accompaniment.

Next stops:  Dufferin Care Center and Friendship Society in Port Moody on Saturday, December 9, 2017 (to be confirmed). In the spirit of fun and camaraderie and in the spirit of the message of Christmas, all brother knights of our council who are available and able are invited to join.
